My son is 7 years old and he does not want to sleep by himself or with a sibling. He wants to sleep with my husband and I all the time. I am wondering is this normal or does it have to do with the epilepsy in some way or form. He says he is scared and just can't sleep on his own. This has been happening since he started having seizures in 2015 a little more now. Before seizures he slept on his own without a problem. He does sometimes complain about hearing noises and just about freaks out with… read more
Yes it will, I’m like that as well, but I force myself to stay by myself because there’s nothing they can do when I had seizure so I don’t want they to be worried. Also my one isn’t that serious as… read more
I take melatonin at night and it doesn't always work. I don't know why I've been having a fair few seizures recently, though possibly affected by worrying of work. Any suggestions?
Thanks heaps for these answers, they look really helpful and I'll have a try out when I next feel worried 😊
I hope things go well for you too
Does melatonin help with epilepsy
I take it to help me sleep at night but also if I'm having a lot of orders or seizures I take melatonin as opposed to my rescue meds so I'll just fall asleep and forget about it
My 21 year old daughter has regular nocturnal seizures. I have read that taking melatonin can help. I am not sure what mg dose to start with. She is very slight and weighs about 8 stone. Any advice would be really appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jane
Melatonin can csuse nightmares. You will want to check with your dr to make sure it won't interact with your meds
I usually give my child 5 mg tab of melatonin but I have stopped because someone mentioned to me that melatonin can cause seizures. We see the sleep specialist in August.
Because of its effects on other hormones, melatonin might interfere with development during adolescence.

I think it’s part of why I am so exhausted. I don’t find time to nap often because I give myself so many chores to do so I feel like I add value to my sister and brother in law’s home. I know I have issues. 😞
Good luck and prayers sent 🙏
My sleep doctor put me on it because I was literally getting zero sleep for a month due to seizure activity and gabapentin making my brain feel on fire. My neurologist wants me off it because it’s “just a tranqualizer and causes memory issues”. I’ve been on .5 for a month and have slept beautifully. I don’t have an addictive personality and really would like to stay on it because im enjoying sleep, but am worried about long term.
I've taken it for 13 years.im getting weened off it(slowly) it makes me so tired
It seems it’s becoming harder and harder to relax so that I can fall asleep. I can’t ease my mind, No matter how tired I am I still just lay there for long periods of time. After a while my anxiety starts then makes it worse.
I am always up early in the morning seems like I been like that for years now, but I think that I'd rather be a morning person than a night person. I just try to keep a schedule and do my certain… read more
And use a CPAP machine if so does that have an effect of how much seizures you have during the day or week or changes in energy fatigue etc.
I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea 2 years ago and wanting to redo the test as my fatigue is getting worse i know endrometriosis and seizures causes fatigue and meds but I'm not on medications and still have this symptom ,I'm just wondering will using a CPAP machine help in some way .
