Is The Covid Vaccine Causing Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've heard from a few people with Epilepsy who are experiencing seizures after getting the vaccine. I'm still thinking about getting it, but before I do, can anyone else tell me if they have experienced, or know someone who has experienced a seizure after getting the Vaccine?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Recently My Seizures Changed, I Used To Get More Grand Mal Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Now I get more smaller seizures that for the most part I don't even know I'm having. Unless I bite my lip, tongue, fall down, or just walk off the edge of something instead of stepping down. These seizures are becoming more frequent, followed by a headache, dizziness, and loopy feeling, I don't have insurance anymore so I don't have meds anymore. Does anyone else get dizziness and feel loopy?

Is Having Speech Difficulties Signs Of Having A Seizure? Or Is It Side-effects From Medications?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a conversation with a few people here. We all have had difficulties speaking. Getting confused, slurring words, dyslexia getting worse, not being able to put sentences together properly, etc.
If that’s a seizure, what type of seizure is it?
Or is it more likely just side-effects of medications?
Thanks.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Loss of speech is always the case from a seizure due to the interruption of the connection between the two brain halves which allows for speech. May be fully aware but unable to vocalize thoughts. As… read more

Surgery As An Option
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi my name is Emily and I just joined myepilepsyteam! My neurologist suggested neurosurgery because medication is not controlling my seizures. I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon next week. The next step is an inhospital EEG 4 hours away from my city. Then they'll proceed on deciding on the surgery. Have any of you gone through this? If so, which surgery? What were the side affects and what should I expect? It's okay if you don't wish to talk about the side affects. I would just like to… read more

Pins And Needles
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m not sure wether it’s an epilepsy related thing but I only get pins and needles in 1 side of my body and it’s on my right side mainly on my foot and I’m not sure wether it’s a seizure or not.. as I wouldn’t say I wouldn’t have this feeling when I have a seizure when I have 1 when I have them when I’m awake (if I’m awake, I’ll raise my hand like I need help, then I fall back) so I don’t know if I’m having another symptom/side effect of having a seizure it would last a minute-2 minutes

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Mediterranean Diet For Memory
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone used the Mediterranean diet for helping their memory?

My neurologist said that besides seizure control, getting enough sleep, and exercise that the Mediterranean diet would be something to look into.

If you have what are you recommendations as food? I have already started some research for it.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Sorry to hear about your experience. I didn't realize seizures could have that bad of an effect - unless resulted in a fall. Was it the type of seizure that lasted longer than 5 minutes? I keep… read more
