Difficulty Sleeping, Any Medications Or OTC Pills Taken
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neurologist told me that I could have difficulty sleeping due to my medications and my overall condition. As I’m sure you all know, lack of a good night’s sleep will trigger seizures the next day.

I’m wondering if any of you have difficulty sleeping and if so what prescription meds or Over the Counter pills you take for this?

Thanks!

Guy

melatonin. but i have a trick you can use. get all electronic (besides the tv) off 1/2 hour to a hour before bed. no food about a hour or so before bed. drink that sleepy time tea things before bed. deep breath when you are in bed. about the melatonin. melatonin is in your body to help you fall and stay asleep. if you are unbalanced, the melatonin doesn't work or kinda works. taking melatonin tablets right before bed will release the tiredness and fall asleep.

I do, but I try to avoid more med so I drink chamomile and take magnesium a few minutes before bed. Also found out low magnesium could also be a cause of seizures.

Yes I agree. My mom would warm milk up for my sister, I like hot tea, or I even took apple cider in a coffee mug put a dash of cinnamon in and microwave it

I try to avoid as many pills as I can I have taken enough anti-eilipsy meds already
I will take melatonin and hot tea with honey. My best is to meditate and take magnesium and calcium all of this a hour and a half before bed.
