After all the gory details me and my mum fired our questions at him and he said it was would an 80% success rate, 1-2% rate of infection etc, 6-8 hour operation (!) and 3 month recovery. Etc
The major worry from the surgeon was the loss of language I may get as the operation would be on my left side. But he was keen that as we are doing this procedure whilst I'm still "young" I can still retrain my brain

My son is set to have left temporal lobectomy on September 28 2018. I am wanting to talk to people who have had this done and your experiences. We are very nervous.

Hi, I am going to have a frontal temporal lobectomy on my non dominant side, next month, i have no idea what to expect afterward except for the generic stuff that the doctors have told me. I am curious about memory, mood swings, depression risks, thought process, Etc. I have never talked with anybody who has had anything like this done. Those of you have experienced it, Can you give me any information?

For those who have had brain surgery, specifically a craniotomy, what mental side effects did you have after the surgery? Do you feel if it affected your mood, causing or contributing to depression, anxiety or paranoia? Please share your experiences with this. Thank you!
