I'm not on any medication at the moment for my tonic clonic and grand mal seizures.
I'm wanting to speak to my Dr about maybe starting Topomax.
Has anyone been on it? Any side effects? Does it help stop seizures?
Did you take topomax in conjunction with other seizure meds or on it's own?

Hi I realized I'm super fidgety to the point where my fiances mom doesn't sit next to me because it makes her sick and I don5 know why I do it, I got yelled at work because I had to constantly be using my hands or shaking my legs. I was wondering if this could be connected to epilepsy because I've been like this forever since I was diagnosed and don't realize I do it. I don't know why I do it.

My adult son has a long history of epilepsy but recently his generalized seizures have become more intense and frequent. He now experiences tonic & atonic both causing him to fall. It is so heart wrenching to see him suffer this way. We are currently trying new medication & looking into the keto diet & a corpus callosotomy is our last option.

I was a minor when I was first diagnosed with epilepsy. I am now an adult and I went two months without taking my medication and didn’t go into a seizure. I heard it’s very rare to outgrow epilepsy as an adult but is it possible???

Those of you that have had epilepsy for a long time, how often do you need to change medication? Does one work for quite a few years and then your seizures come back, and you have to try a new med? Is it common for people’s bodies get used to the meds?

How does anyone who is a full time parent get by with epilepsy and the fear of having one by yourself with just your child. I have grand mal and partial seizures. I'm to scared to have another child because I'm scared I shouldn't be a mother because of my epilepsy. I've recently also had brain surgery. So I have had a lot of help since my son was born. Looking to get some information prior to starting a family appears the neurologist at my hospital does not want me to take carbamazepine as well as levitracetam.

Daily I take
1200mg of tegretol
1500mg of levitracetam

Also did anyone who was trying for a baby change medication beforehand and if so how was this experience?

i wonder... if we were raised differently or had seizures earlyer/later in live... is that inpacted our lives?

For the ladies... it’s hit me that I’m getting to the point where I should be family planning. I called my epilepsy nurse to discuss the risks along with my medication and it’s scared me to death. But if I don’t do it soon I don’t think it will ever happen 😢
