Hi All
Has anyone been on Keppra and had Lamictal added? My son was fine up until last week he was at 75mg twice a day of lamictal and seemed to get a bit tired the second week after each dose increase but last week he was very tired and ended up missing school. He doesn’t seem to be getting any better his energy levels are so low. As of today he is at 100mg twice a day plus the usual 1500mg of Keppra twice a day. When I spoke to the epilepsy nurse at the start she said that Lamictal usually… read more

Hi guys,
I'm not on any medication at the moment for my tonic clonic and grand mal seizures.
I'm wanting to speak to my Dr about maybe starting Topomax.
Has anyone been on it? Any side effects? Does it help stop seizures?
Did you take topomax in conjunction with other seizure meds or on it's own?
Thanks heaps.
I Was on Topomax and it had some side effects that were tolerable … Stay strong in time you might be thankful 🙏 🙏
The child can’t take a nap or go to sleep rather her meds is taken because she steady having seizures for less than minute in sleep daily. And it all started when doctor recommended we go down on doses for kreppa.

Those of you that have had epilepsy for a long time, how often do you need to change medication? Does one work for quite a few years and then your seizures come back, and you have to try a new med? Is it common for people’s bodies get used to the meds?
I'm sorry to tell you this but be prepared to be taken off a med put on new one, possibly sometimes more than one med. Reason doing so is in search which one or combo will work best for you. I came… read more

Learned to live with it. It's great to hear this is being treated just like anything else in life from birth. LEARNED TO LIVE WITH NOT CONTROLLED TO LIVE WITH!
Has anyone have any serious issues with VNS surgery. I already had a previous RNS type of surgery but this time they offered VNS and worried. I actual started working a second full time job to keep a reason to delay. What do you think?
Happy holidays to everyone and your loved ones!
That is something I'm not familiar with. I wish you the best regardless of what you decide.
Whether you’re increasing or decreasing any of your meds, how long do you feel it takes your body to adjust to the new dosage?
Getting used to a new medication can take months, especially when one is titrating up the dosages every 2 weeks, which is how my Neurologist works it with mine. I was on Topiramate for 7 months and… read more
I started an additional med after having more seizures and my eyes and ears seem extra active! I can hear things before others I'm with, I have trouble with sensory overload and can't go to social activities with coworkers when they want to do gatherings in Mpls without wearing ear plugs since all the commotion is too loud, and I have to keep turning the brightness of my computer screen down and the lights in my room off otherwise it just hurts my eyes.
Just better smelling.
It has been almost one year since I was diagnosed with right temporal lobe epilepsy. I have tried Keppra (had to stop due to side effects) and am now on Briviact. My dosage was just increased due to a cluster of breakthrough seizures this week and I'm concerned that the drug may not work for me. I'm curious how long it took folks to find a drug regimen that worked best for them.
We are like a jigsaw puzzle! I have been on combinations for years! I’m free then back to the drawing board! I have been tried test drugs. Then tried last year on only 1! Free for approximately 4… read more
