How Do You Know If You Have A Night Seizure
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have never had a night seizure before. I also haven't regularly had seizures, mine seem to happen in big sessions, last one was 7 Grand Mal / tonic clonic seizures. After a normal seizure I am disorientated, confused and tired. Recently I have been waking up after a really really long sleep and I am confused and disorientated. It only lasts 2 days and then I am OK, well still a bit tired but can at least answer simple questions.

This is obviously not a huge Grand Mal / Tonic Clonic seizure… read more

I would not pay attention to a School GP, who I think told you to go "Cold Turkey". I know some people stop having seizures naturally. Find a Neurologist or Epileptologist who is very observant, can… read more

Mycrocitic Anemia
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I received a message from my neurologist saying I have developed Mycrocitic Anemia & I should see my primary doc. to get it checked out and that she might have to lower the dosages of 1 of my meds. Does anyone else have mycrocitic anemia or any sort of anemia? How has it effected you or your meds?

Does Anyone Ever Have Blackout Spells?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

As some of you know I have had seizures for 24 years. I am having these blackout spells in just 1 eye. My seizures are coming from a damaged nerve in the left side of my brain. I blackout in my right eye sometimes. I know its completely normal, but I was just wondering if other people have had them.

Yes but I put on new med and good. Thank God

Has Anyone Noticed A Decline In The Quality Of Their Child's Speech Since Epilepsy Started?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My three year old had very good speech when this started out of the blue 4 months ago and now she is very hard to understand at times and her sentences are kind of broken up. Is this normal? What could be the reason for it? She has only had a few very short grand mal seizures, her main type is drop seizures (atonic) and head drops which are now under control with her medicine. This is bothering me so much because I've read of people losing their ability to speak with epilepsy and I'm not… read more

Anyone Have Experience With Pregabalin
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,
I've just had pregabalin recommended to me by my neurologist as an alternative to Lorazepam for my anxiety as he considers Lorazepam to be too addictive for regular use. I've been taking one every week - 10 days to deal with work situations such as presentations or meetings that I consider to be extra stressful and liable to bring on a seizure. Does anyone have any experience with this drug? I'd like to know it's going to help with the anxiety.

Does anyone in your family have to have seizures in order for you or your children to get it ? And Since I have seizures what's the possibility for one out of my 3 to recieve what I have?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member
