Dreams
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a dream the other day that I had a grand mal seizure. I know in real life I would be out of it and wouldn't know what was going on. But in the dream I was aware I was seizing, being sick and having injections. 99% of the time I remember my dreams. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced dreams like this? Does anyone know what it means?

Seizures In Dreams
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone dreamt they were having a seizure although not actually having one. I had a dream last night I was having a seizure because I was ill in the dream and woke up in a panic. Maybe I was getting too hot while sleeping.

Can Scary, Bad Or Nightmares Dreams Cause Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know this sounds silly, but if you have stress related epilepsy (like me) and you have a bad, scary or nightmare dream can it trigger a seizure? If a dream is very realistic and life like and causes you to feel strong emotions such as worry, anxiety, anger and distress what are the chances it can trigger a seizure? I also have night terrors where I wake up screaming, can these also trigger seizures? I often go through phases when I have are bad dreams and I get scared of sleeping.

I said every other night. What I meant was every other night that I don’t have a seizure. My seizures are about once a month. I pray the best for all of us.

How Long Does It Normally Take To Regain Consciousness After A Seizure Has Ended?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My seizures last about 5 minutes (or less), although the seizure stops I still remain unconscious for long (anything between 10-40 minutes), should someone seek medical assistance or is it best to just to just wait it out. My neurologist says there is nothing they can do so best just to wait. It’s a terrible feeling and it’s a struggle to regain consciousness, move my limbs and open my eyes. I just want a second opinion to set my husband at ease when it happens.
