They have only figure out temporal lobes epilepsy it’s coming mainly from my left side and they are generalized tonic clonic seizures.
Don't try to work for 6 months before you file, but if you do and get fired/let go-it actually helps toward your disability case. Also, it helps if you can show some mental… read more
I'm on 10 of Clobazam (Onfi, Frisium) and it makes me really tired. I take it at night but I'm still tired all day. I was wondering if anyone had success with reducing Onfi's side effects by splitting their single daily dose into twice daily doses (10 at night into 5 morning and night)?
Edit: obviously, I’ll ask my doctor before I do anything, just want to hear about your experiences!
I started taking onfi about 6 months ago and this is exactly what happened to me. They had me at 10mg at night but was still so tired during the day I would almost fall asleep at the table. I… read more
Hi All
Has anyone been on Keppra and had Lamictal added? My son was fine up until last week he was at 75mg twice a day of lamictal and seemed to get a bit tired the second week after each dose increase but last week he was very tired and ended up missing school. He doesn’t seem to be getting any better his energy levels are so low. As of today he is at 100mg twice a day plus the usual 1500mg of Keppra twice a day. When I spoke to the epilepsy nurse at the start she said that Lamictal usually… read more
Questions are good. Who knows a question you ask could have a b solution that's helpful.
Always work with your doctor when reducing or eliminating medication. Doing it on your own is very risky and dangerous.
So I'm going back to college. I start on August 11th. Here's my deal though. I've been in and out of college since I graduated in 2009 because of Epilepsy problems. I've gone to college three other times already. Also for three different things. Should have stayed with the same track I know but I'm indecisive and I get bored easily. First time I was at the community college, I was there for my AA but I had just found out that I had Epilepsy. My GPA started dropping near the end of a year and a… read more
Funny enough after 10 years of being away from college(had to medically withdraw due tocmy epilepsy), but I'm finally returning back to college to finish my Music degree this year. During these 10… read more
For over a week now I have been struggling with vertigo (dizziness, shaking, nausea, nystagmus), severe joint pain, headaches, exhaustion. Has anyone else had this and how long did it last? I was hospitalized for 4 days and I am feeling miserable enough that I would almost welcome another hospitalization... and I HATE hospitals, like most of us, I'm sure. The pain in my joints (every joint, seriously) is so severe I cannot lift my arms, bend my wrists (to a certain extent), bend at the knees… read more
Some mornings I wake up with what I call hang over headaches. About 10 or 11 it's gone.
I have had a few seizures at my new job and now rumor has it that they are considering having me wear a helmet around the shop? Can they do that even though i am not medically required to wear one?
Your work place doesn’t want to be responsible nor pay for medical expenses, if you were to get injured on their property or in their building.
If you really want to know for sure , you may want to… read more
I'm wanting to travel to South Africa but my parents are refusing me to go due to my epilepsy. Any tips for flying long distance?
Make sure you have all your medication and any paperwork required from your doctor. Also, I always recommend (and have) extra travel insurance, as the normal travel insurance won’t cover epilepsy. The… read more
The pharmacy recommended Vigabatrin for seizures. I was wondering if anyone takes it and if so, how effective is it at reducing your Complex-Partial Seizures? What side effects do you have? I'm seeing my family doctor tomorrow and might mention it; I'm wondering what side effects you experienced and how effective is it at reducing your Complex-Partial Seizures. I have tried just about every anti-seizure medication and had to give them up due to negative side effects (such as extreme depression)… read more
Talk to your PCP, but it’s likely that they won’t know much about it. Try your neurologist/epileptologist.
I hope that the new med is helpful and comfortable for you.
I used to be worried about longer seizure free duration, although longer duration is considered stable, but as I am medication resistant analysed by my neurologist, please share thoughts. Thanks
I have achieved the 3rd which is 1 month. I have previously achieved having no seizures for three months so my goal is to not have a seizure for four months or longer
