Please help?
I haven't seen a Neurologist or Specialist for over 30 years, and relied on a GP and Government Hospital for medication in South Africa.
Since having re-located, I requested review and now have an appointment in an Epilepsy Clinic in July.
Obviously, I don't know what to expect and have so many questions; what worries me most is a change of medication when I am so far under control (as far as I'm concerned).I've never had an MRI scan done, and no EEG for over 30… read more
If your worried about an mri the last time i went to the neurologist they put glasses an ear plugs on you i about fell asleep so i wouldn't worry
My husband has had non-epileptic seizures since 2002. Nothing really seems to help, other than valium (slightly) and medical marijuana. He was prescribed Neurontin for chronic back pain, and 1 week and 3 days into titrating up, he was in the hospital with what they thought was "status epilepticus" for several days of a 5-day hospital stay. I've been diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy by at least 4 neurologists and non-epileptic seizures by 1 neurologist.
My nuero is supposed to be one of the best in the country however when I've mentioned nocturnal seizures which Im pretty sure I've had he dismisses it as there is no hard evidence. He also dismisses my migraines and exhaustion and dizzyness and is now dismissing the fact the nurse I saw thinks it is hormone related. He won't even bring forward my appointment. My Epileptologist sent me to memory clinic. She spoke to me and stated you are having sz in front of me. She said you need 72 hr telemetry at home and mri. The eeg saw a flurry of sz first

I am with a new Neurologist now, my one I was seeing for 22 years has since retired, this new lady is very nice and gives good advice.
My current doctor has been working 2 months trying to figure out what type of epilepsy I have. When the consultant he was working with said I don't have the type he thought I did, we are back to square one. Made me a little nervous when the doctor told me it took a month for the consultant to get back to him because his messages kept going to his spam email. No Neuro here in N Calif no CONTROLKED epileptic study done, nor a Keppra level done here, whereas I can't take the am dose. Scarey. I have Thrombocytopenia my blood doesn't clot. In 2017-2018 repeat MRI Showed normal brain. Disabled RN I never should of left Central Florida this frightens me
You can ask your primary doctor for a referral to a neurologist. Once it is given then you can check some neurologists out for yourself and see if they specialize in the condition of Epilepsy. This is… read more
I have Ectodermal dysplasia 16 and heard that in Ectodermal dysplasia 16 seizures may come from the Cerebellum part of the brain.
