@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I don't think he said that. He is talking about Hippocampal Sclerosis which is white matter forming in the Hippocampus. HS has gradings from very mild all the up to no Hippocampus. Plus the hippocampus is in Boths sides of the brain so it would be very rare to have both sides effected with very high grading. Overall HS is a cause of TLE.
Mark: If epilepsy had so much to do with the Hippocampus then it would have a much bigger impact upon MEMORY. The Hippocampus creates memory: Without it you can't make new memories, can't remember things. And that is not a symptom of epilepsy.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Its a cause of Temporal lobe epilepsy, but there can be other causes. This is one of the reasons why they just refer to the cause as scaring.
I've never heard it called that or if I have I don't remember. I do remember my neurologist telling me my epilepsy is from scar tissue on the left side of my brain hardening...
