A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I suffered from complex partial seizures for most of my life, until I had brain surgery. My neurologist put me on zonogram for seizure maintenance for a while, but, then changed it to neurontin, and… read more

Hair Loss
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone taking seizure meds find their hair thinning or hair loss to become more problematic the longer you stay on it? I've been on zonegran for over a yr now and I've been steadily losing my hair in chunks. Once my meds were upped after some scary seizures a few months ago, it seems like it's excessive loss. Chunks of hair at a time. My doc says I'm imagining it and it's "part of epilepsy" but I don't know.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neuro is reducing my Carbamazepine and wanting to add an additional med to better control the seizures. Has anyone else has this scenario and if so what med works well in tandem with Carb? I am new to the seizure world.

Who Has Been Given Gabapentin When It Is Not An Anticonvulsant For Your Type Of Epileptic Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Gabapentin is not supposed to be given to an epileptic who has focal seizures because it will usually trigger more of them (as is the case of too much of any anticonvulsant will do for epileptics). And Gabapentin may worsen absence and myoclonic seizures, so caution should be observed if the patient might have these seizure types.

Can't Concentrate And Am So Sleepy When I Try.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Have trouble feeling awake all day long. I mostly get my seizures when I am sleeping. And can tell when I have had one, I wake up no energy and sometimes very week muscles. I love to quilt but I just sit there as though I am in another world. Can't concentrate. I take Klonipin and Gabapentin. I sometimes feel like I am losing my mind. I have only been diagnosed for about 3 years and that was a slow process and I had doctors that did not believe I was sick. If anyone has any ideas, I would… read more

Does Anyone Now Or Have You Ever Taken Zonisimide? What Do/did You Think? Did It Help?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been on it for years and my seizures keep getting worse. Now I'm having multiple forms of seizures instead of just tonic clinic like I had originally. And Dr keeps upping my dosage instead of switching meds even though I've requested it repeatedly. I sought out a different Dr and the new one kept me on same med (zonisimide) and dosages and seizures keep getting more frequent and worse and are now coming in clusters that sometimes last for a week!. Only thing nee Dr did was add Nayzilam… read more

Please note how both Drs agreed on same meds. Just cause you think you know better doesn't mean you're right. Dr's not listening to you because they do know better. No doctor allows a patient to… read more
