I was recently taken off of Keppra due to debilitating side effects that I couldn't grin and bare it, so to say. Have been placed on Gabapentin 900 mg a day. Seems to be helping my seizures stay at bay..but also hearing so much bad long term damage it may cause I'm at a loss. Has anyone else taken this and what are your thoughts, feedback of this medicine? I see another Neurologist in the metro area in July, i live in a very rural area.

Has anyone taken Depakote? If so, did you experience any side effects?
I don't believe I have ever been on that. they did put me on some medication that made me gain a lot of weight. I took it for about a year and then I had them put me on another medication. Happy… read more
I am aware that skipping pills could lead to seizures.I am on Vimpat and it has worked great but skipping pills could lead to grand mal seizures. I had a grand mal seizure about a month ago due to not taking my medicine correctly. I've been taking my medicine just fine recently but starting to have petit mal seizures (staring for 10/20 seconds). Can medicine just stop working? can epilepsy continue to get worse?
I have been on the same medication for a very long time. I recently changed jobs and have new insurance with a new dr. He has suggested new meds. I am honestly terrified. I know a lot of new discoveries have been made since I was first put on Depakote. This is the only one at the time that actually worked for me. But, now I am getting to mid 40s and approaching that lovely point of hormonal changes. I know from my past medical history this a time to get new welcome party from epilepsy. Not… read more
Hello all
Ive had petit mal epilepsy and myoclonic epilepsy for 21 years now.
My neuro just took me off depakote and switched me to zonegran. Ive been taking depakote for over a decade and its controlled my seizures very well. Ive learned that since switching my petit mal seizures are one after another all day long. Its worse when im outside in the sunlight and I do have them indoors too (Which never happened when i was on depakote). This leaves me very fatigued and gives me a lot of… read more
My great grandson has been on these meds now for over or almost a yr, his seizures are not controlled! Seems like getting worst!! Some days like today he had 15 drop seizures!! He is 2 yrs old and has LGS due to bacterial meningitis, so not born with epilepsy, these are not he meds he’s on. Do you think it’s time for a change?
I had a intracranial EEG April 15th. Within 2 days they noticed 2 times the number of seizures, often in my sleep, than I was noting. April 20th I had a brain ressection in my right frontal lobe. I was doing great until I came off the hydromorphone and steroids. As well they changed me from Dilantin to Vimpat. I also take 2mg of clonazepam a day and am allowed 1mg of Ativan per week, the remainder of the time I go to the ER. An average of 2 times a week.
I am trying to find any suggestions for… read more
