Has Anyone Had Their Seizures Controlled Completely By Medicine And That Change?

Has Anyone Had Their Seizures Controlled Completely By Medicine And That Change?

I am aware that skipping pills could lead to seizures.I am on Vimpat and it has worked great but skipping pills could lead to grand mal seizures. I had a grand mal seizure about a month ago due to not taking my medicine correctly. I've been taking my medicine just fine recently but starting to have petit mal seizures (staring for 10/20 seconds). Can medicine just stop working? can epilepsy continue to get worse?

Try contacting the pharmaceutical company that makes your new drug and tell them of
your need for this.. I was once in the same situation with a new drug-Felbumate- which
cost bout $800. a month when first introduced. I wrote to the maker , praised their new
drug, told them of my need for but how I couldn't afford it. They contacted me and made
arrangements with my doc to give it to me for free. Don't give up till you do. Good luck

You're right -what happens is the brain "adjusts" to the med and does something to override it. I've been on
many meds which seem to work but a month or so later don't due to this. But if you've been on a med for a
while-which has worked-you may simply need to increase your dose. Don't worry bout side effects-unless you
think they are worse than your seizures.

Hey, don't have grand mal but I have had a 5 year seizure free period as a child. Then after a SEEG I had a 3 years break. This one I don't believe it is thanks to medication, but yes it happens, mostly with children.

I'm taking 500mg of Dilantin (Phenytoin) daily. Been seizure free for about 25 years.
