Do you have problems refilling your meds if they are on the Controlled Substance list? I have had so many in the past that it has even led to withdrawal seizures from waiting for refills.
If I don’t pick it up the day it’s ready they won’t give me any more. Yes , with controlled meds. I dropped one last week and I know my pharmacy doesn’t care. I have to find it or I’ll end up in the er with a seizure. It stinks . Why would anyone want to take vimpat if they didn’t have to? I don’t know why they would not give me one more pill but they won’t.
Lack of education to the public about epilepsy is a common reason that obtaining AED's is a problem.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member That is the med I have so many issues with! When it came off the copywrite, and generics became available, I even switched to them to see if it helped. Nope. I once went 5 days without Vimpat, and had a seizure for the last 4 of them once a day. I was shaky, nauseous, anxious, and just hated how I felt. So that leads to sounding like an addict because you know what makes the feeling go away. Its a controlled substance for a reason. Then they told me they had the refill, I went to pick it up, and they used it to refill someone else, in less than 30 minutes. Why is Vimpat harder to refill than Lorazapam? Lorazapam is schedule 4 while Vimpat is schedule 5.
not really a problem, my pharmacy won't do refills for controlled drugs. I need to get a new prescription from my doc when I need Lorazepam
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I forgot about phenobarbital, I was on it in the 60's & 70's. They took me off of it because it messed with my head
