Carbatrol

Carbatrol

I've been put up to 1200 mg per day of tegretol retard. This is the maximum dose and seems very high - has anyone else been on such a high dose and did you suffer any side effects?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said:

The dosages of the meds are increased by your weight. I’m on Carbatrol too. I take them 3 time a day . The total mg equals 2,100 . Plus I’m on 4 other medications.

Dilantin

Dilantin

I took Dilantin for a few years as a child. I'm not sure why my doctor switched me from Dilantin to Tegretol, but I'm assuming it's because I broke through on it. I really liked it, but I suppose what I'm on now is best for controlling my seizures.

Since then, I've been on numerous forms of Tegretol,, Tranxene for a short time, and currently, Leviteracetam(Keppra, in addition to Tegretol). Chelsey, what does VNS stand for?

Has Anyone Become Immune To Tegretol Or With Their Medication?

Has Anyone Become Immune To Tegretol Or With Their Medication?

I have been on Tegretol for 17 years since 2003 a year after my diagnosis with epilepsy, I've noticed over the years that I've had more side effects and seizures than I once did when I first was put on it, my doctors have never changed it. Has anyone else experienced that? Thanks in advance :)

Tegretol/Carbamezapine

Tegretol/Carbamezapine

Hey everyone
I've been on tegretol/carbamezapine in various doses since I was about 15. I am now 27
I've been starting to think more about side effects, dependency and whatnot as I get older. Does anyone else worry about this? Like what the drugs are doing to your body? I still have seizures roughly once every two weeks, maximum is usually 4 a month, but I have started looking into alternative treatments as well, like acupuncture and the keto diet. My neurologist mentioned to me that if I… read more

Pregnancy And Medication. What's Your Story? How Did You Make Your Decisions On Pregnancy, Medication And Breastfeeding?

Pregnancy And Medication. What's Your Story? How Did You Make Your Decisions On Pregnancy, Medication And Breastfeeding?

If you're a mother, I'd like to know your pregnancy story. Did you decide to have kids? Did you decide not to? What was your thought process when deciding to keep taking or stop taking medication? Did you decide to breastfeed or not?

I'm scared about having a child that develops problems their whole life due to my taking medication. I'll blame myself if that happens.

Random Uncontrollable Hunger

Random Uncontrollable Hunger

Has anyone experienced random uncontrollable hunger when taking tegretol, I've had my dose increased and I'm not sure if the hunger is hormone/stress related or due to a higher dose of medication.
I mean eating like a ravenous pig once a week isn't normal for me but it was before and now after my periods I'm just hoping it's just hormones related and this isn't going to be a regular thing for me.

Contraception And Tegretol?

Contraception And Tegretol?

Hi ,I was wondering what contraception do you take with tegretol I've been doing some research on other woman's experiences with other contraceptives and to be honest it's kind of making me not want to go that road but unfortunately I don't have a choice in that matter.

I have endrometris that has spread to my bowels and large intestines some of it was removed from my intestines but my bowels were left alone, so I need to have my periods stopped to stop it from spreading elsewhere as with most… read more

Memory Loss With Certain Medication?

Memory Loss With Certain Medication?

Hi there ladies & gents. I have just joined this group and it seems really nice and welcoming
I was going to ask something, has anyone had any sort of memory trouble when taking the lamotrigine medication? I was on 100mg 3 times a day and my memory really did seem faint. I was getting really worried about this but the doctors didn't really do anything about it. I have had the lamotrigine decreased as I am taking a higher dose of keppra now but really would like someone to write back if they… read more
