I know the tests said my memory was poor. When given directions, I did not carry out the task well or consistently. The inability to do so the Doctor felt would getting and keeping a job difficult.
Ditto. Mine are related 💜
After much research I now realize why behavioral health would ask me how I did in school and was I good at math.I was horrible in math, and that’s a sign that something can be wrong with the development of your brain.
Not me, but I taught math for years and saw SO many people who struggled with it. A lot of my adult college students said math was a real stumbling block for them. I always tried to teach them the… read more
Does anyone who is still in high school that has seizures have a paraprofessional
Try to get medical insurance. U are eligible. Dont worry. Do u live in america?
When people find out I have epilepsy, they treat me like a baby/kid. They act like I can't do something myself or it might be dangerous for me. I'm taking a carpentry class & the teacher & the nurse thinks it's dangerous for me to do, but there's nothing I'm interested in.
Yes I have but that’s when I realized those people were not supposed to be in my life because no one should have the ability to judge you. Be confident and accept epilepsy.
So I'm going back to college. I start on August 11th. Here's my deal though. I've been in and out of college since I graduated in 2009 because of Epilepsy problems. I've gone to college three other times already. Also for three different things. Should have stayed with the same track I know but I'm indecisive and I get bored easily. First time I was at the community college, I was there for my AA but I had just found out that I had Epilepsy. My GPA started dropping near the end of a year and a… read more

I have been a teacher for 24 years. But last week, for the first time, I seized in front of my class. I was in the middle of a lesson. My kids were amazing. I have prepared every class on the first day of school with a just in case procedure, and they were rock stars. But for 23 years it was never needed. School seemed to become a safe haven from my seizures. I had them very infrequently over the years but never in school. I hit my head and have been sporting a black eye trying to teach these… read more
I was a sub up until 2 years ago. I never had a grand mal in front of students. I did, a couple times, have petit mals firing off one after the other in front of them. When they went to lunch a… read more
I was curious If a professor would be able to tell if a student were having a seizure in her class, even if the student didn't tell this professor that she had epilepsy, seizures and was photosensitive? I ask because, yesterday my professor was acting very weird towards me. Maybe I am being a bit paranoid but, I just thought it was very odd in how she was acting. Here are two examples; Yesterday, when we went to watch two video clips she had one set of lights on and one set off. During the… read more
Regarding teachers in High School and below I would certainly let them know or ask my parents to do so. I let all of my professors in college know. I did my Thesis on teachers understanding epilepsy… read more
I'm applying for work accommodations due to my work not wanting to give me off for neurology and psychiatric appointments and am trying to think if there are any other ones that would be worth asking for because I don't want to have to go through this twice. Does anyone else get work accommodations for their epilepsy if so what did you ask for?
Also if you have the education to be a nursing to be used in getting a easy way for you to get that education is located in Johnstown PA. It's a school for disabled. Is very helpful on getting the… read more
Yes increase and sometimes decrease in emotions. I have even gotten aggressive and begged for help because of it.
In high school (1980 - 1984), I had some issues, but I was still very intelligent (though did not know until 2021 that I was suffering from brain damage from the return of my Epilepsy in 1980 to when I was finally diagnosed in treated in 1997 --- this only being possible because research was published in 1995 that proved that Epileptic Partial Seizures existed. Thus some of the things that so many more older epileptics than me were being judged for before 1995 -- such as daydreaming, bad… read more
