😭 Lots of times people tell me something and I’ll think they’re saying something else and they get mad at me.

Many community members connected over the frustration of being misunderstood due to comprehension challenges linked to epilepsy and other hidden conditions, with others getting impatient or even dismissive when they struggle to process information. Several members shared coping strategies, like asking for explanations to be reworded, writing things down, and reminding themselves that no one knows everything, which helped them feel less alone. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of dealing with disbelief from family, coworkers, and neighbors, paired with a strong sense of community solidarity and encouragement to ignore judgment and advocate for themselves.

Plus I know a lot of ppl who hide their learning disabilities from others so that nobody knows they can’t read or write or have dyslexia, or trouble reading numbers and other learning barriers. We’re supposed to judge others as we want to be judged, so why criticize someone for not understanding something? And like others said , this isn’t just about having epilepsy, it’s about how others feel about themselves and others. If they think everyone should understand something, they tend to criticize others that don’t. I personally think they need a lesson in the golden rule!!

Yes. Sometimes I have trouble getting the words out of my mouth and some people are rude and say What What. Or they misunderstand what I said and I have to explain that I wasn’t being rude, I just said the wrong word. It’s very frustrating.

In my community no one understands why I have hospital transport, they say to each other "she's always getting a ambulance " to try and put me down so they feel better, I ignore them all, cause it's them with the problem lack of understanding.
