My neurologist knew which glasses stores carried them. Plus they’re cheaper with a prescription from them. Or u can call around and find one. Just remember that they are made in Germany so they take a little bit longer to get; but they come with a lifetime warranty against any damage. So don’t lose the card that comes with them

Via a optometrist. Not sure what the cost would be though.

If this is a specific type lense when you are ordering your eyeglasses ask the technician about ordering that particular name as they will be aware of them. I just ordered my eyeglasses and was able to obtain specific key items placed onto my glasses to benefit my medical health as well as particular key items to ensure the safety of the glasses will be there for quite some time. I was given very courteous service from the technician I worked with and quite happy in the end. I chose to have transition eyeglasses in sapphire blue as it protects my eyes from the sun and the particular color also lowers my chances of getting migraines like I have been.

It sounds like the question is about how to go about getting Zeiss Z1 lenses for prescription glasses when living with photosensitive epilepsy — great question!

The Zeiss Z1 lenses can sometimes be tricky to track down, but here are some steps that may help:

- Talk to your neurologist first — they can help determine if these lenses are right for your specific seizure triggers and may be able to assist with insurance coverage
- Visit an optometrist — ask them to contact a Zeiss representative directly, as Zeiss reps can often arrange for the lenses to be fitted into glasses or goggles
- Check with your insurance — a healthcare provider can help advocate for coverage, but be prepared that it may not always be covered

A MyEpilepsyTeam member shared that their optometrist friend contacted a Zeiss rep directly to get goggles made with the Z1 lenses, which worked out well for them.

If the Z1 lenses are hard to find or too costly, blue-tinted lenses are considered the next best option and are much easier to obtain. Some MyEpilepsyTeam members have also found that any tinted lenses provide noticeable relief.

Remember, these glasses should complement your epilepsy medication, not replace it.
