Hi everyone , has anybody ever had side effects with this medication? I’ve been having severe migraine plus so much ear ringing on both sides shaking on my hands and some anxiety. I’ve been trying my best to try and cope with the situation and I’ve already told my neurologist, but it’s seems like they just don’t care. I’m so tired of bringing it up to them and I’m just so done with all this ringing. Has anyone been through this and if so, what remedies or what did you do to lower down the ear… read more

What side effects have others experienced with Lacosamide (Vimpat), and what helped with ear ringing?

First off, it's really frustrating when you feel like you're not being heard by your doctor — that's exhausting on top of already dealing with tough side effects. You're not alone in this.

Lacosamide's known common side effects include:

- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Headache
- Double vision

Hand tremors and anxiety can also occur as neurological side effects, so what you're experiencing isn't unusual. Ear ringing (tinnitus) isn't listed as a primary side effect, but dizziness-related symptoms can sometimes present this way. It's worth being very specific with your neurologist — write down exactly when it happens, how long it lasts, and how severe it is on a scale of 1–10.

A MyEpilepsyTeam member shared that simply lowering their dose slightly made a huge difference in side effects. That conversation with your neurologist is absolutely worth pushing for.

If your neurologist continues to dismiss your concerns, asking for a second opinion or a referral is completely reasonable and within your rights.
