Great question! ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is actually an older term that's no longer used. The current term is ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), which covers the same symptoms and more.

Great question! ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is actually an older term that's no longer used. The current term is ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), which covers the same symptoms and more.

ADHD is actually the most common co-occurring condition in people with epilepsy. Here's a quick snapshot of how common it is:

- 30%–40% of children with epilepsy also have ADHD
- Around 20% of adults with epilepsy also have ADHD

By comparison, only 7%–9% of children and 2.5%–4% of adults in the general population have ADHD. The three main symptoms of ADHD are:

- Inattention – difficulty focusing or completing tasks
- Impulsivity – acting without thinking things through
- Hyperactivity – excessive movement or fidgeting

Researchers believe epilepsy and ADHD may be linked through shared brain-related factors like stress, anxiety, or inflammation. In most cases, epilepsy is diagnosed first.

It's worth noting that some anti-seizure medications, especially phenobarbital, can worsen ADHD symptoms. If this is a concern, it's worth discussing with a neurologist.

The AI is kind of correct. There was two different terms then I'm not to sure when but they got rid of ADD and combined it with ADHD.
