I don't know what to do. For the past 2 days I have it where one body part only on 1 side will move without me trying. Usually wrists, leg, shoulder or ankle/foot. It's almost like they tighten up by themselves for a second it doesn't last long I've had epilepsy for 23 years and never experienced this I've had myoclonic jerks but this is different it only happens once and only last for that one movement and it's quickI don't even know what these are and if I should raise this concern to my… read more

I've dealt with these kind of 'movements' since my childhood (and still occasionally do); during my youth my pediatric neurologist told my father and I to quote:
"This is normal, and usually caused by the neurons in the brain mis-firing; however, the cause itself is due to the brain 're-wiring' and 'self-correcting' said mis-fire."

To clarify, this was told to me when I was approx. 13 - 15 years old. I'm now 33. A lot has been learned about the human brain, and epilepsy since then.

P.S.
I would suggest keeping notes on when this happens and inform your neuro. on your next visit.

Yes, that is part of Epilepsy. At times when I am at my computer, either of my legs will jerk. That is a side effect of Epilepsy. I have noticed the jerk now for quite a few years.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Every now & then for some reason I get single twitches in my body, anywhere from the shoulder or the leg. They use to be only as I settled into bed for the night but now they occur during the day sometimes, but I take an over the counter pill now called “Restful Leg” made by Hyland’s company. You could look at the side effects of your medicine. But you might mention it to your doctor, there’s nothing wrong with that if you want. In December 2018 I started having a twitch in my shoulder but it didn’t last long but that night I also had trouble breathing & whatever other symptoms were & we went to the hospital & they claimed that I was just dehydrated. That wasn’t the problem. Those shaking issues just got so bad in my arms & it seems like it was either you or Emily who were there for me during those times because my arms would just shake like crazy & one time my leg muscles tightened up that I could hardly walk. I didn’t have any insurance at the time & so I couldn’t just run to the doctor. We eventually went to our Family clinic after hours one Saturday & luckily got to see my former Family doctor & he knows about my seizures & saw that I hadn’t had bloodwork done in almost a year & so he did that & found that my Depakote level was at 135 & normal is between 50 to 100 & so he adjusted the dosage & after a few months the shaking finally stopped. You don’t want this type of thing to happen & so you might let your doctor know what’s going on. Good luck. 🤗💜🙏🤗 Your friend in Texas, Becky

Good post and? I agree with the ai mentioned about it and other people's opinions here which is ok with that, I think it's dif per person, and I have had that happen to me on occasion, I do so during the time before my bed time, I don't know what it is, but it's a way that I use to fall asleep, t looked up online and they say it could be restless leg syndrome and a few other things associated with it, but I would suggest getting people's opinions here which is ok and then go to your doc about the post here and see what they say and go from there, and good luck with your outcome with it my opinion here
