Did You Know… About Primary Generalized Tonic-Clonic (PGTC) Seizures?

Posted on January 8, 2017

Primary generalized tonic-clonic (PGTC) seizures (sometimes called grand mal seizures) is a type of generalized epilepsy. This type of seizure affects both sides of your brain at the same time. There are two phases of the seizure:

  • Tonic: The stage when your body loses consciousness.
  • Clonic: The stage when your body contracts and relaxes rapidly, causing convulsions.
