I have 8 stitches on the outside and more on the inside. I had a cyst removed from my leg. I thought it was small but it ended up being pretty large. I was put on a strong antibiotic. I have had one seizure that would not stop so I had to take Nazalym. And 2 small ones. I contacted my doctor and the nurse said to stop taking it.

Earlier this year, I had a small cyst on my abdomen. I found that putting apple cider on it will make it dry up and go away. That is what I did and - it dried up and no problem. My doctor was stunned that I didn't opt for the operation. It really hurt as it was around my bra area.

That sounds like a really stressful experience — dealing with a larger-than-expected procedure and then having seizures on top of it is a lot to handle. Stopping the antibiotic was the right call, and it's good you reached out to your doctor quickly.

Certain antibiotics are known to interfere with brain chemicals that help control nerve signals, which can lower the seizure threshold. Some of the antibiotics most associated with this risk include:

- Ciprofloxacin
- Levofloxacin
- Penicillin
- Cephalosporin
- Imipenem
- Isoniazid

The good news is that antibiotic-related seizures typically resolve once the medication is stopped. MyEpilepsyTeam members have shared similar experiences, noting that illnesses and infections can stir up seizure activity — sometimes from the infection itself, and sometimes from the medications used to treat it.

Here are some steps others have found helpful in situations like yours:

- Stay hydrated — this is especially important after a procedure and while recovering
- Get plenty of rest to support healing and seizure control
- Keep rescue medication on hand — which it sounds like you already did with Nayzilam, great thinking
- Contact your doctor immediately if you miss a dose of your anti-seizure medication during recovery
- Ask your doctor about alternative antibiotics that may carry a lower seizure risk for you specifically

It's worth following up with your neurologist (not just the nurse line) to review what happened and make sure your recovery plan going forward is as safe as possible for you.

I remember hearing years ago that there were food cures - and that is true. You just have to find out what they are. I heard that eating asparagus is supposed to help you with cancer - I never tried that one. And if you have variose veins, just apply apple cider to them and rub in - they slowly dry up. Everything takes time but it works.

I had a few seizures last time I was on antibiotics, but they couldn’t prove that’s what caused them so I had to finish all 2 weeks off the antibiotics and had more seizures. They still say they can’t prove anything

1) I’m glad your cyst was taken care of. 2) in my personal experience, if I have to take an antibiotic or strong antifungal medication, I just prepare to have a seizure….i know it’s coming, just don’t know when. So I put every other seizure precaution in place to make the seizure smaller and safer. That means laying low, and usually I end up having less seizures. Hope you can find your balance
