This is a modern medication to stop seizures. It has the standard effects: You feel sleepy, not exactly "completely there," maybe a little depressed. I thought this effect was definitely raised with Topamax. I was falling asleep all over the place, and had no kind of appetite at all. It took an effort to eat! And when I actually could sleep it was a challenge, because I would have seizures all night when I took Topamax. Good luck, if you are taking that stuff!

Members shared a wide range of personal experiences with Topamax (Topiramate) for seizure management, with reactions varying greatly from person to person. Several members noted difficult side effects like fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, loss of appetite, and low sexual drive, while others shared that they had taken it for decades with no major problems. A recurring theme was the importance of finding the right medication and dosage through patience and working closely with a neurologist, with many members offering encouragement and support along the way.

I've taken it and it kept me from being able to work as I was sleeping all the time. No sexual drive so it was a killer in a marriage. Keppra has been good for me. But what I've recently found out that Lyme disease and other co-infections can be the cause to my epilepsy. My epilepsy was diagnosed in 2013 and found out I had chronic Lyme babesia Bartonella ebv, CFS, mold toxicity in 2022. All because of if COVID infection. It woke up the many infections I didn't know I had. No recurring if seizures though. Now disabled from all of the co-infections. No seizures since 2012. Seizures can be a side effect or symptom of something deeper. Keep turning over stones. Also if you suffer from anxiety and/or depression they can all be tied together.

If I didn't have my Faith I wouldn't be here.

My story isn't over until God says it is.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this.
The brain fog and severe fatigue are horrible. Food doesn’t taste good anymore either. Do you have that issue as well?

I was on it for many years. Like others I started taking it because of migraines. I lost lots of weight, I did like that at first, and my migraines were completely eradicated, as long as I was on the drug. I continued on the drug because for the TC seizures I was having. I did have some success with the drug. I no longer take the drug at my Neurologists advise.
