My husband has Nocturnal TC and partial awareness seizures. Taking Topamax and Diladin. Is this aura?
I had nocturnal seizures in the past. No, I do not believe that they are " auras " The only way that I can explain the auras that I experience is that I have a knowledge of " somethin' ain't right" It's a sensation, it's a knowing. When I'd experience a nocturnal episode I would be VERY tired after them. I mean very tired. In fact, it's my body's way of telling me that I have experienced an episode. By just how tired I am or I become.
My husband knows the symptoms well enough now to know when I'm having challenges. As far as partial awareness seizures, Yep! I had those too. Still I advocate for knowing your triggers. and try your best to avoid them. Lori, you can be a tremendous help to your husband. A tremendous help. Please I suggest in doing so. Ask him what he wants, needs from you. EDUCATE yourself about his condition. Like what you're doing here. But, with as much as you want to help him. Remember that he doesn't want to be babied, or pampered of get the are you ok? every time he may be just in thought. ( happens a lot with focal seizures )
I wish you great success on this journey. Remember that there are many here who are willing to help in the best way that we can. π Y'all are not alone.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the response!
Never had Nocternal but I have had "partial awareness. The thing with these though is even though you may have some awareness during the seizure they normal get recorded as Impaired focal even if the impairness is very short.
What your husband is experiencing β that strange sensation of feeling like he's moving while staying still β does sound like it could be an aura. An aura is actually the very beginning of a seizure, happening before full awareness is affected.
