I was taking my meds tonight and I had a bottle of statins in my hand that I started taking after my stroke almost 2 years ago. The next thing I know is the bottle and the pills are all over the floor. I'm just sitting there. My son yells for my hubby to come in the kitchen that I dropped all my pills on the floor. He asked me why I did it, and I said I don't know what happened they were in my hand than they weren't. I said I probably had a short absence seizure. I can't think of any other… read more

I’ve had them. And like u at first I would just stare into space but lately I’ve been dropping things as well. Thankfully I trained my dog to think my pills are poison so he doesn’t touch them, but the foster dogs have to be trained to think the same thing and it takes a little bit to get it into their heads. That’s the scariest part for me. I don’t have any memory of anything happening; which is normal for me. I don’t have any memories b4 or after a tonic clonic seizure either. I know it’s annoying but I just think of it being normal for me

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I don’t know that it was an absence seizure (I know had those growing up & would go into a stare, but I don’t know if they note me as having absence seizures anymore, but I think she notes that I have simple & complex partial seizures & nocturnal seizures where I have them in my sleep & so I have both Focal & Generalized Epilepsy types). But a few years ago I had gone to bed early cause I wasn’t feeling well & got up in the middle of the night to get something to drink & I remember being at the refrigerator & next thing I knew I was in front of our kitchen sink kneeling down holding the kitchen TV remote in 2 parts like I had dropped it & was trying to put it back together because the back of it where the batteries go was off of it & I had no memory of walking over to get the remote or anything. That’s the only thing I can think of right now that I’ve dropped. Growing up I had more absence seizures like in grade school but I’m 46 now & most but not all my seizures happen in my sleep. Prayers your seizures calm down. Get some rest. Take care. Your friend in Texas, Becky

Partial complex and absence are two totally different types of seizures. They effect one part of the brain where generalized seizures is the entire brain and absence and tonic clinic are generalized seizures. With partial complex you can have a staring spell you can have partial or complete loss of consciousness. But it is a totally different seizure. With yours they can in some cases remove the area that's causing the seizures. With mine its the whole brain so I'm not a surgery candidate but I did get a VNS which has helped me immensely.

If this happens anymore times, you may want to Talk to you Neurologist / Epileptologist , may schedule a EEG appt. It is possible that you have a new seizure location, for what ever the reason is .

The type of seizure you had , Dr”s would call it Focal Onset impairment, awareness, seizures. ( AKA Complex partial seizures ) . Basically you are unaware of your seizures. But it sounds like this is new and you are aware of your seizures most of the time.
