My daughter is an adult who has pervasive cognitive impairments (autism) and multiple doctor appointments. I’m her main caregiver and advocate. I need some suggestions on how to unwind to improve my mental health.

I’ve had epilepsy ever since I was 10 years old and continue to have seizures in my 40’s. My mom still takes care of all of my paperwork and keeps track of all of my appointments. There’s no way I could remember all of that living with epilepsy. So I still live with my parents. My mom even does my laundry. My parents are getting up there in age so they have started looking at assisted living places for me for when they’re dead. So even without autism I cannot take care of all of those things being disabled with epilepsy my whole life. There’s other things that can be risky if I were to have a seizure.

Thank you. I started following her on facebook the same day and went through her website. She is awesome! I read the article but think I need to reread it. As we speak I’m packing for us to go up to camp for 3 days and I’m looking forward to the early morning nature hike I get to do while she’s still asleep. Hopefully I’ll get to rewind just a bit more while there.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I think you’ll benefit more from the first information I sent you, but here’s some information I found that is on this site, here is a link to it: 8 Ways To Care for Yourself as an Epilepsy Caregiver: https://www.myepilepsyteam.com/resources/ways-t... . Prayers y’all are doing okay. If you have any questions about the information I sent you about my distant relative, feel free to ask. Feel free to reach out to Bradley’s Mom, Jennifer. Take care. 🤗💜🙏🤗 Your friend in Texas, Becky
