@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , You could contact your local Epilepsy Foundation & tell them your situation & ask if there’s an attorney that they could recommend. You could tell them the issue you’ve been running into with the other attorneys. A few years ago I contacted my local Epilepsy Foundation about trying to find an attorney to help me apply for disability & they recommended a particular law firm & eventually I was approved for disability. So they might be able to help you & suggest an attorney or law firm. You can look up your local Epilepsy Foundation at www.epilepsy.com . Good luck. Your friend in Texas, Becky

Thank you Becky. It was suggestion and I reached out to them but the attorney I called said no as well because of the case. I'll reach out again to them. I'm so happy you were able to get help. Epilepsy Foundation is great! I guess people haven't had as much trouble as I have with this.

Thank you. I've tried finding an attorney and none of them would take my case because of the type of case. I had to appeal fast and this is why. I've documented everything so far and not received anything but when or if I do that's the problem. I stress everyday and it stresses me out so much my seizures are getting worse.

Dealing with both disability benefits and workers' comp at the same time is genuinely stressful, and you're not alone in feeling overwhelmed. Many people with epilepsy have navigated similar situations, and it's okay to take it one step at a time.

Here's what can help when managing both:

- Document everything — medical records, doctor visits, test results like EEGs or MRIs, and how epilepsy affects your daily life
- Be honest with doctors about how your condition impacts your ability to work, even part-time
- Consider hiring a disability attorney early — as one MyEpilepsyTeam member shared, getting legal help can speed up the process significantly
- Check your eligibility for SSI — since you mention not working a lot, SSI doesn't require a full work history and is based on income level instead Workers' comp and disability benefits can sometimes overlap, and it's worth letting the Social Security Administration know about any workers' comp you're receiving, as it may affect your benefit amount.

Talking to a social worker or disability specialist can really help untangle what you're entitled to. You've got this! 💙
