i can get a job, but i just can't keep it. honestly,i wouldn't even hire me because if i have a seizure on company property i have the ability to say, "The stresses of my job caused me to have a seizure and i want to sue." of course i would never claim that, but that's the position i am in. i am a liability to them.
If it wasn't for my wife persuading me , I myself would be working. But we are also on low income housing and it would be difficult if I had a job. But if you do try and apply for SSI or SSDI , you may want as much documents on your epilepsy from all Dr's. , who knows about you epilepsy. The more proof you have the better chance you have getting on Social Security.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Department of Labor does not legally require disclosure. You have the right to disclose, as well as the right to choose WHEN you disclose.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member If an employer alleged that not disclosing a disability on an application is grounds for termination, I hope they discussed this decision with a labor attorney first. Termination because of the disability is illegal.
For those that choose to disclose, DOCUMENT! Keep track of what they say and don't delete email or lose papers.
Lets keep on GOING on with outr daily life's and we can all keep eachother STRONG

Others are right we have to be STRONG. It's hard but can be done.
