I’ve had the RNS for 6 or 7 years. I had my first RNS replaced due to a dead battery after 4 years. When doctors replaced it they told us the new RNS would last 7 or 8 years. However, my 2nd RNS only lasted maybe 3 years. Doctors were thinking about replacing it again but then noticed that my seizures hadn’t got worse since the battery went out so they didn’t believe it was worth changing the battery in the RNS. The RNS is still in my head if my seizures get worse though. So I had the RNS for 6 or 7 years.
In 2022 , I had my DBS put in . My seizures reduced from 30 times a month or once a day, to 3 - 9 seizures a month .

I wouldn’t mind getting the DBS if my neurologist wants to give it a shot. I’ve tried the VNS and RNS, why not try the DBS. Surgeries don’t scare me after having so many including open heart surgery. So I guess it’s up to my neurologist if she believes it’s worth trying.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , what are your thought about possibly having the DBS put in?
My neurologist is now talking about putting a DBS in me Randy
