I SUMMED up the RESPONSES they wrote back to me. The RESPONSES I got back were LONGER

1. Ok it sounds like you feel you don’t get treated as someone valuable like other people. That’s a really frustrating feeling and can make us feel undervalued
2. That makes it sound double annoying as you’ve got seniority and that should come with some added responsibilities
3. I know that when some people feel under appreciated, it makes them have thoughts about killing themselves.
4. Okay I hear that some… read more

Members rallied around someone who shared their experience with a suicide crisis hotline, offering deeply personal validation and practical support while affirming the value of reaching out during dark moments. Several members encouraged professional help beyond hotlines, including therapists who specialize in epilepsy-related depression, local epilepsy support groups through the Epilepsy Foundation, and honest conversations with neurologists about medication side effects that can worsen suicidal thoughts. A recurring theme was the community's fierce insistence that the member's life has value, with many sharing their own struggles with feeling underappreciated at work, isolated by chronic illness, and trapped by limitations, while offering steadfast reminders that they are seen, loved, and never alone in their fight.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member & @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Yes, Epilepsy Foundations still offer Support Groups, some offer either virtual support groups or in person support groups or both. My local Epilepsy Foundation offers a virtual online support group by Zoom. I’ve participated in a few of the online support groups but I don’t get a lot out of them. I don’t always know what to talk about. Plus, it’s my verbal tics that occur daily & not my seizures & so my verbal tics get me stressed sometimes. My last counselor left the office she was at. So I hope to find another counselor or therapist but one that specializes in verbal tics. My regular Neurologist has me seeing a special Neurologist for my verbal tics. Anyways, take care. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member,
From my experience with talking with people on a Crisis Line, being the caller, some are Book knowledge and others actually try to be personable. As many time that I have called a Criss line or 988; I’ve only had 2-3 people who actually treated me like a person instead of a statistic. I don’t know your side as the words you used to get the responses you posted here, but I can see from their point of view a little bit. It sounds like they were trying to be personable. They still have to ask certain questions to understand how serious the situation is. Unfortunately to us who are going through a Crisis, have a hard time comprehending their trying understand about us.
I personally try not to overthink things with them anymore. I’ve come to realize that they are trying to help, but they also need to realize that we are more than a statistic or a person who can’t handle life in general. Sure there are those who give up completely and don’t want help.
Those of us who call the Crisis lines are looking for answers. To me, that means Hope still exists.
