I just had my blood test and the depakote level hardly showed ,my doctor hasn’t emailed back on what I should do even though my auras have came back .
My seizure med never controlled my seizures 100%..
it’s called refractory Epilepsy
Resistant to medication
Im allergic. I took for a,long period, but time as a kid. They had taken me off it. Several yrs, later while I was in the hospital for staticus epilepticus . They tried giving me a shot of it. The seizures became more severe. Because having been on it for a period of and then taking me off it. I had built up an immunity to it.
Basically the same with Tegretol. I took it over 14 years. It got to the point it was no longer working for me.
I don't think I've ever become immune but the closest to this is when I was on Tegretol. They put the dosage up and it was getting towards the highest they could go. I was told there was high chance issues could happen and it would need to be monitored. I had to have blood tests for the next 4 months I lasted 2 months and they took me off. The main issue was WBC started to drop and LFT was going up and they new it would keep happening and get worse.
Has anyone become immune to their anti-seizure medication, especially when blood levels are low and auras return?
It's concerning that your Depakote levels are barely showing up and your auras have returned. While people don't typically become "immune" to anti-seizure medications, your body can process them differently over Show Full Answer
