The best thing to do, is compare the movie to a Stobe Light. Let them know that a Flashing Stobe Lights can trigger seizures.

I have always found that being truthful and blunt is the best way. There’s no reason to tiptoe around it. I just say Sorry, but I can’t watch this because it’s a trigger for my epilepsy. Most ppl will gladly change the channel or wait until I’m not around for them to watch it. If not then I leave the room and will watch tv in another room, and that lets them know that I mean what I’m saying and I don’t want them watching me having a seizure just because they didn’t want to listen. And don’t watch anything on a projector screen. It usually doesn’t bother me ( or most epileptics) until hours later and then the seizures start. I find that I don’t notice the flashing or pixels at the time, but anytime I’ve watched a projector screen, I’ve always had a seizure afterwards. Or u can ask them to watch it somewhere u can’t see it. They’re younger than u, and u shouldn’t be put out of ur home just because they want to watch a movie. I believe in being totally honest and blunt about things like that. I know it’s a new family for u, but they have to learn that there’s some things that u can’t do or watch because of ur health issues. Sure, u might get a little whining or complaining, but it’s better than having a seizure

I can't watch fight scenes with bullets and car chases. I triggers me. Music is also a trigger so I can't watch the songs at the end (but the background music I can't get through). I just say it hurts by eyes and makes me have seizures. I don't try to over explain since some people just don't get it.
