I have a live alert necklace, but it's not doing me any good because I don't know when I'm going to have a seizure and after I come out of the seizure , I don't remember having one

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I relate to
The not remembering the seizures seems a life alert wouldn’t be much help if I can’t remember. This last time got hurt pretty rough so trying to figure out another option.

For about 8 months I have been using the At-Home & On-the-Go, VIPx® from Life Fone. I love it. At home, it's a necklace. When I am away from home, it comes off the necklace and it has a clip and I attach to the inside of my purse. They offer lots of different devices. With tax, etc - it costs about $42/month. Well worth the cost. Before I had it, when I had a seizure in my bathroom and was unconscious and when I started to become alert but was unable to move my legs (they were underneath me) and circulation was quickly becoming an issue, and I couldn't speak, and my husband was in another part of the house completely unaware of what was going on : I would have pushed the button on the device. Peace of mind (for me and my family) doesn't even begin to describe the "benefit" of having this necklace. It has GPS too. I have traveled independently with it knowing that if needed, they could send medical help right to me. I didn't add on the "fall detection option". I did my research (on many different devices) and I found a consistent issue with false alarms. ie: bending over to pick something up can trigger the fall detection.

My late stepdad (then 97 yrs old) had a Life Alert attached to his belt or his pants. He climbed on a stepladder and fell backwards. The device and his phone also fell to the ground, He was on the floor for 16 hours before we found him. IF you do get one, get a secure one that won't fall when you do.
