My family members think I don’t listen. When in reality, I don’t understand. I will for one minute and then it’s gone. My memory is getting worse even though I haven’t had any clinical seizures in four months, I think I just want to get away from these people, I grew up in New Jersey. I found HOME in Georgia. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member This is why we are all on the epilepsy team. We can support each other and get advice and support. I know there are hard days for you, but everyone here likes you so much and wants to help in any way they can. Being depressed can also take a lot out of you. Sometimes it has been so bad that I stay in bed until my husband comes home from work. Some days, I am only out of my pajamas for about 2 hours a day. But then I get a bee in my bonnet and clean my closet. You take care. I hope you have a good night

I am so sorry you are having to deal with your epilepsy and your family. It has to be tough when no one in the family understands what you are dealing with. I am glad you have a therapist. Mine has really helped.

I care and so does everyone else, because you are such a lovely person with so much to offer. I know everyone wants the best for you too. You are in my thoughts. Reach out any time you want to talk. Hoping you have a great Saturday.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member When I have a Telehealth visit with my therapist I go into my room, shut the door and turn on the TV at low volume. I live in house that is like an amplifier, and my son nor my husband has ever heard me. You can also look for a therapist online. Your PCP or neurologist should be able to make recommendations. We are all here to support and help you.

Hi, this is just a check-in, based on a phrase you mentioned. If you — or anyone else who sees this — is thinking about self-harm, we want to say that you are an important part of this community. No part of this is easy, but there is support that can help. Read more >
