I don’t think Anyone will understand our experiences until they were to get diagnosed with Epilepsy . But for most people , I hope they don’t have to experience the challenge .

I do have a different feeling to those who are ignorant and nor supporter to their friends or families

I’d pity the person who switched with my illnesses, but I’d love for it to be my primary gp. Let him deal with everything I have going on and then see how different he would treat me lol. I would love to be as healthy as he is!! I know I would enjoy a day in a “healthy “ body and I also think that anyone who doesn’t have epilepsy would find a new found respect for epilepsy.

Question: Would people better understand what it's like living with epilepsy if they could experience it for a day?

You raise an interesting point about empathy and understanding. As one MyEpilepsyTeam member noted, "People don't get it until they get it." Living with epilepsy affects every aspect of life - from relationships to daily activities to one's sense of self. Many people with epilepsy have found that dropping assumptions and being open about their condition leads to better understanding. As shared by a MyEpilepsyTeam member: "I'm not hiding my condition anymore. If I'm tired, I'm going to rest." While others can't fully experience what you go through, being honest about your challenges and needs can help build understanding and support from those around you.

I have always believed in “go with the crazy you know.” I would not wish epilepsy on my worst enemy and I really don’t think I would want to trade places with someone else to experience their issues. I do think if someone had to walk a day in our shoes, they would have a deeper understanding of what we deal with on a daily basis.

You only have to read the posts of people who suddenly get diagnosed and they go on about how their life is suddenly over and they feel they can't do all the things they want to do..... Every time I see these, I'm like well that's not great but I've but I've had this for 26 years and not much has changed.
