There are many topics on explaining Epilepsy . There are many types of seizures. To 2 popular seizure categories are
1. The General seizures . That’s when both Spheres of the brain are active with seizure activity . A Grand Mal is a perfect example .
2. Partial Seizures . That when one sphere ( left or right ) of the brain is active with seizures.
Simple Partial seizures or Complex Partial seizures are two common examples .
Beside those few seizures I mentioned , there are still many seizures types

There are many seizure triggers . The most common seizure trigger that we all try to avoid are
1. Not staying on medication schedule.
2. Lack of sleep
3. Stress/anxiety/depression
Then there are many other seizure triggers but not everyone experiences them. Triggers like ….,,
1. Photo sensitivity,( The Sun or certain lights )
2. Change in weather /climate/ environment.
3. Certain foods
4. Certain noise or sound frequencies.
5. Certain smells
These are just a few of the many types of triggers.

There are the topic that deal with our AED ( anti-epileptic drugs ) meds . The many different brands and generic medications on the Market . Then there are the many Side effects that they may experience with the medication.

There are the Cognative and memory issues that is part of the Epilepsy package.

There is the Big Stigma that Surrounds Epilepsy from the many Fears and myths . Lack of Education of Epilepsy plays a big part of the Epilepsy
Stigma . Many of us have trouble getting support thru family , friends , employers we work for and ect.

These are just a few of the many issued that are talked about , with Epilepsy. The question is what topic are you wanting to start with?.maybe you have a topic or subject that I didn’t mention above.

Hello Haleigh. Sorry to hear that your daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy. Through the years, it won't be unusual if her diagnoses changes several times, so you are doing the right thing gathering as much pertinent information as you can. She will likely change doctors several times, so it would be a good idea to keep a journal of the types and amounts of meds that she is put on. Also note any side effects, both for her journal, and to let the doc know of any changes. Hope this helps.
