At my last physical, was told I am starting menopause. I haven't had my check-in with my doctor yet. What kinds of impact should I watch out for?
I was fortunate when I went thru menopause! I did yoga and meditation. I changed my diet , just a little bit. I had yogurt every day. My seizures started to slowly change because I was more active! I walked 3 miles a day! I would have a walking sz but they were less severe! I never had hot flashes and my mom said I followed her mom! Everyone is different! I wish you a peaceful transition!
I’m starting menopause also. I have day and night sweats.
I try and keep yoga in my day routine.
I went through all the hot flashes last year - not fun!! even in the winter I was going on in my light coat and tennis shoes. I actually get those very rarely now. Last one was Thanksgiving and I had to take off my socks and button down shirt and a family member had to bring me cold soda since water wasn't working. My uncle sat by me In case I started having a seizure. Now, I get my period every three months and I'm just past 40 and besides my epilepsy meds. don't take anything else (besides the calcium I started over 10 years ago as requested by my chiropractor). The doctor at my physical said I am really early to experience this. Ugh - this is going to be an interesting journey.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , A few years ago when I first began perimenopause, it was late one night & my Mom & stepdad had gone to bed. I began to get so hot & hardly any energy & I didn’t know what was going on. I made it to the bathroom & finally after a bit I was able to get a washcloth from the cabinet & wet it but I just didn’t have much energy & was so hot it was crazy. My cycles eventually began irregular. I’m 46. August 2023 was the end of my last cycle. The hot flashes I’ve had are awful. They interrupt my sleep. I would take an ice pack & a little fan with me to bed. I went to my Family doctor for something & she put me on Progesterone & the pill form of Estradiol. While on those pills I was still having awful hot flashes & so she recommended that I go see a Gynecologist. The Gynecologist still has me on the Progesterone pill but has switched me to the Estradiol Patch. The Estradiol Patch has been working really great, almost like I hardly have menopause or hot flashes anymore! It’s a patch that is put on the rear or stomach & is changed once a week. Since using the patch, my sleep has gotten better. Everyone has their own way that they’ll eventually want to look for treatments & you can talk to your doctor about what would be best & safe. Prayers as you start the new journey. Good luck. Your friend in Texas, Becky
Night sweats . Sweating all the time. Among other things.
