And then say that person developed a condition also and you are to help them out, but it's kinda difficult to do so because of the condition they have and aren't sure and used to what they have been diagnosed with, I know at first when I was diagnosed with my condition it took me some time to get to get used to it, but people that gave me support and help with and such etc, I got to where I accepted it after the time it took, about 23 yrs, but I have it in my life with and it's a little concern… read more

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, I totally agree. Now being 7 years seizure free after living 50 years of having seizures everyday, all day I tell people It is a Miracle that was only done through My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I may be seizure free now, but I have been through many of the same things everyone else on the site has gone through.

For me, I was diagnosed in 1968, Friends, Family, Others in general will never understand what I've been through or go through. Although frustrating to say the least I learned to deal with my epilepsy at a young age, You wouldn't know it as I vent a lot here. It relieves stress. I am there to help others deal with whatever they're going through, they all know some of what I've gone through as I let them know to some degree. Not to say "Look at Me" but to let them know that God pulled me through many of my worst times. So they for whatever reason come to me. Whether it's health or personal issues. They know I'll give it to them straight, I don't pull any punches & they want that. As for Getting / giving medical advise, I've lived it, been in the healthcare arena & have a few 100 MD friends made over the years to ask. But whatever the issue, epilepsy, ALS, Cancer, or whatever, yes, go to your MD's & healthcare resources. But in all cases, @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , we are there for them as you said. But we also must let them know that they need to go to God for the help, solace we can't give . I can give them advice, but only the Lord God can do miracles. This is the advise I gave/give to my friends, brothers & others whether we are / were dealing with terminal illness or other. Let them know you're there for them, if only as an "ear" if they need to talk, etc. I personally have been through much in my life & many of you more than I, but each trial as I cry & scream & ask God why?, has brought me closer to God as NOONE else can understand what I deal with, whether epilepsy or any of the countless other issues I must deal with not suitable for here. I'm not special as I know I've it much better than others. I've had many pity parties, then God presented me with people who I feel have it sooo much worse. I share how God got me through, things may not be miraculously better, but He got me through. This also lets them know that "YES" He is there, we just need to reachout to Him. (A good place to stop for EASTER)

Not everyone like the way I live and have survived this far but haven’t walked a mile in my school and iv not been given my meals by my parents and bought my meals all the time , top that off iv have had to choose to almost go hungry and buy my medication because I had to work because of the price of medication and no help! I will say I’m not put here to sugar coat it I’m making it today, ups and downs I’m alive and living healthy with my epilepsy and up and downs but alive !

I started understanding of my Epilepsy by the age of 5 ( I was diagnosed at the age of 2 ) . I kept learning through my teen, especially when I spent time with the Epilepsy Foundation support group and camping trips with them.

I still learn tidbits here and there today.
