Yes, I definitely have been overprescribed at points.
A key issue is wether they are stopping seizures in which case it’s worthwhile, if they aren’t stopping seizures you should talk to your doctor.

A classic syndrome is patient gets better, then feels overprescribed then stops or lowers meds, feels great, seizures return, patient feels much worse. Gets back on medications. Round & round!

Ive done that a few times, to my regret so I’d be wary of that.

Occasionally I have had that happen, but I also think me, just being me, makes me feel as though I am being over medicated.

Lori , Dilantin was the second drug I was put on years ago as a little boy. The first one I was put on right when I started having episodes due to the shot that I have was phenobarbital. We’re talking about probably early 80s but had to come off. I would do that. I kept breaking out in rashes. But after the Dilantin that I was put on years ago after I was taking off off of that, my previous neurologist I saw was seeing at the time had put me on a 400 mg of Tegretol.. That one I was on I’d probably over 20 some years if not longer than that and was taken off of that one in 2021.

Kinda weird. I went to a doctor appointment in Sacramento. AFTER the appointment, on the way home, my brother wanted to stop and get himself some marijuana. I don’t smoke the stuff, of course. But I talked to someone there and told him my personal situation. So he recommended one of the gummies to me. And eating those just made me feel fantastic! The best I’ve felt since I started taking my first meds over thirty years ago. The only other time I’ve felt so great was after 30 straight days without taking medication. The difference just feels so good. Too bad I can’t have them send it in the mail!!!

Yes . I was hospitalized for phenobarbital toxicity about 7 years ago. My levels were way too high. Once they got lower I was ok. My body apparently metabolizes meds quicker than normal.
