Just was prescribed this as a trial to wean off of my pregablin. Anyone taking this have advice?
Do you mean Fycompa? I've been taking it for about 10 years. I was evaluated at Cleveland Clinic. I was not a surgery candidate, but my neurologist did get some good info. I was already taking Lamictal and Topamax. He decided to add Fycompa. I currently take 250mg am and 300mg pm of Lamictal. I take 150 mg am and pm of Topamax. I take 8 mg of Fycompa at night. It's dosing/mg is different. It has been a really good drug for me. The biggest problems are the cost and dizziness. Make sure you eat a little something when you take it and drink plenty of water. Don't be in a situation where you are going to have to drive an hour to an hour and a half after you take it. Also, avoid steps if possible, or hold on to the rail! Overall, it has been a good medicine. It is very expensive and difficult to get without insurance. From my research, it looks like it will be a few years before we will see a generic.
I wish you the best!
I hope it works for you Bonnie. I have tried quite a few myself. I have been on my current combo for over 10 years now. I wish you the best!
Thank you Mandy for the info about Fycompa. My doctore told me that it’s coming off patent in a year and a half. I have medicare part D for drug insurance my doc is giving me samples to see how well it works for me and, most importantly how I tolerate it. This willl be my eleventh med. All the others have side effects that I could not live with.
Hi, Bonnie welcome to the page. I don't know about your medication. There are a lot of people who can advise better than I. I only had it for 57 years. Tounge in cheek. Just kidding. Take care eriicthom3
