Members with complex seizures shared a deep understanding of the intense physical and mental exhaustion that follows an episode, with many describing sleeping anywhere from a few hours to multiple days afterward, often accompanied by severe migraines, body aches, confusion, and difficulty walking or speaking. Several members described practical coping strategies, including scheduling regular afternoon naps to manage medication-induced fatigue, using pain relief for post-seizure headaches, and communicating clearly with employers and family about the need for rest and understanding. A recurring theme was the frustration of being misunderstood or judged as lazy or rude when the reality is that seizures drain the body's energy at an extreme level, with many emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy, grace, and leaning on faith and community support to navigate the unpredictable recovery periods.

Stress and lack of sleep trigger my partial complex. I sleep afterwards between 2 and 10 minutes and may remain confused for a while- depending on the strength of the seizure.

When people take a seizure fit it can make you tired because you use more energy in a fit than you probably would in a whole day because off the power an strength you thrash out in a fit

That tolerance of pain is the same for me too. I grind my teeth a lot and recover with tooth and jaw pains. I tighten every muscle into a cramping stage, so when I recover I'm still having muscle pains for a day or two. Years ago I used to be as quiet as could be (unnoticeable), but as the years have passed I seem to cramp up a lot more so I go into a loud moan or even a scream until I recover. I've read about this side-effect that I sometimes get which is deja-vu. I'll recover from a seizure and will be remembering an era of my life so clearly that I had totally forgotten before. This deja-vu even discovered that a friend of mine for the past 10 years is an ole friend of mine from 30 years ago! She hadn't been recognizing me, and I hadn't recognized her before that seizure. Then I said, "Hey, didn't you used to work at ......., at live next to ....., and ......? She the recognized me too! This is what happens quite often, but I don't know if these are just imaginary or actual events of my past.

Sometimes but not always. Sometimes i wake up confused because i had one in my sleep but i cant be sure because i was sleeping.

Same. I hate it, I can't get anything done. It's both. Meds make you drowsy too so it just adds to it.
