Does anyone on here take vimpat and keppra? If so what side effects do you get?

I have taken both in the past. My first AED was Keppra at 500mg, twice a day (I think) but it gave me really bad "Kep-rage' so I had to cease taking it. I don't recall what dose of Vimpat I used to take but the entire time I was on it I was only able to get an average of 4 hours of sleep per night, and when I did sleep I had the most vivid and terrifying nightmares I have ever experienced. AEDs and drugs in general can affect people in different ways so there is no guarantee that the side effects I, or the other posters experienced will be what you or anyone reading this will experience. On my current medication, Depakote, I decided I wasn't going to read about any of its potential side effects before starting it. instead I had my ex wife read the info that accompanied it when we picked it up at the pharmacy so that she could look out for symptoms but I wouldn't run the risk of 'front loading' information about side effects and then subconsciously creating them through a placebo method. So far it's produced the least side effects of any of the medications I have taken for epilepsy. (I'm definitely not recommending anyone not read up on something before they take it but merely adding that last point as an interesting anecdote.)

Dilantin is bad for the bones, bone density. I started taking this at 13 up through my 20s. Now that Iā€™m almost 60, and have not been on Dilantin since, it still did much damage to my bones. I take Keppra and topiramate.

At age 63 my seizures started, currently age 66. Been on @Keppra from the beginning. Had to up dosage to 500mg per 12 hours. I had suicidal thoughts before the seizures started, so can't blame the @Keppra. Never have even tried or attempted the "S" word. I don't get the rage. Does sedate me. Coffee works to counter it. @Keppra does not always hold me. Complex partial seizures, and music is the trigger. @Keppra holds me about 90 days seizure free, then an event or cluster of events like aftershocks after an earthquake. Went to an epilepsy specialist to confirm definitely is epilepsy. She said drug of choice for me is @Lamictal. Did the headnet thing. Tried to do the MRI and freaked out via panic attack. Will try again. Docs have to establish a baseline to work from before changing meds. 16 years ago I did a cerebral hemorrhage and possibly the seizures are because of this event. My GP will give me a 10 mg @Valium tablet and open MRI next time and try again. Just learned this piece in our community chorale and listening to YouTube choruses doing same triggered 2 episodes a day apart from the other. Re-played it several times since and fine. Go figure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTffSl-XH3Y

8 seizures per day, 3 years ago, before I decided to give Keppra a try. It definitely helps me.
