I've been on keppra and klonopin and have been having issues lately so my neurologist has prescribed me depakote... Has anyone tried it and what are the side affects and how many people does it help? You can be detailed
I have been very fortunate with Keppra. After a false start on Lamictal which made me feel like a walking time bomb and nearly killed with twice thanks to head wounds I started backing off Lamictal and insisted my neurologist put me on something else. I've been on Keppra for almost six years and siezure free. I have been extremely lucky with Keppra with no side effects. I hope the new combination of meds works for you and your seizures are better controlled without side effects.
Dang. I haven't started taking it yet yet but after reading all this, I don't think I want to. Someone asked me if I have complex partial seizures and that's why I have been prescribed this... well yes and no. I have all the kinds of seizures i have misfiring all over the brain. My main type us grand mals... But the keppra seems to help with those... But I have all kinds of other ones. Other seizures... staring spells, twitching, complex partials, simple partials, sometimes still tonic or clinic or tonic clonic... absent ones.. it gets really irritating and emotional. Sometimes making it hard for me to do much at all and the seizures make me confused which makes me frustrated and emotional and cause all kinds of muscle pain. I'm suppose to get more studies done because my doctor thinks I may have epilepsy that doesn't stop with just meds ... But every referral I get my insurance won't let me go to the epileptologist or the mayo clinic so .... getting mad about that... meds suck I don't like them. Any of them. It's poison dude. Chemicals . Of course there's side effects. Ugh I don't want to take any meds meds suck.
Ive just had vimpat added to my medication i also take lamotrigine a britivac i feel exhausted all the time
Yes! I had the same issue with keppra. Fell in my kitchen twice because my head was spinning so fast. It was all I could do to crawl to the couch. My neuro cut my dose significantly all all is well now. And yes, depakote makes me tired as well. The side effects of these drugs can be so frustrating.
