Clonazepam
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am on clonazepam 10mg twice per day, as well as Keppra 3000mg per day, Zonegram 400mg per day. Yet I stil l have grand mal seizures at least once per fortnight. The Doctors won't do anything about it as I have already tried Mysoline, Tegrotol, Epilium, Vimpat, Dilantin etc. What other alternatives can i do?

I would get a second opinion if needed. I'm on Clobazam 10mg 5 per day, Keppra 3000mg a day, & Epival at 1000mg a day. I had brain surgery in 2004 & exactly to the date 5 years later I ended up with worse seizures.

Hi trooper. It sounds like your in the same boat ⛵️, as I. I've been on many old, and new , medications. I ve even been on meds that I was on, in the past. So far none of them have controlled me 100%.

When your in this position and have been on many different meds, we have a 5% chance of finding the right combination of meds.

Now if you haven't been on a bunch of different meds , then maybe your Dr. Just hasn't found the right combo. I f it's legalized in your state, check on medical marijuana and cannabis.

Are you satisfied with your current neurologist; because I would get a second opinion. Wouldn't hurt! Also, I have found that some of the meds they have tried on me actually made me worse! Could one of the meds you are currently taking possibly do this to you? Questions I'm sure you have asked the doc already...but just putting my 2 cents in!! Good neurologists are had to find...I in fact would like a different one. Nobody good in my area. I wish you the best!! Keep on trying; and asking questions!! Oh, and this might be strange...but I find artificial sweeteners trigger mine. Also, the fluorescent lights; lack of sleep, and stress to name a few.

You may want to search on meds that deal with your type of Epilepsy. Maybe you can convince your Dr. To try one of those.
