Members confirmed that lamotrigine is the generic form of Lamictal and levetiracetam is the generic form of Keppra, directly answering the original question. Several members raised concerns about switching to generics, sharing personal experiences where generic versions caused problems, including one member whose seizures jumped from about 40 to over 300 in just two weeks after switching. A recurring theme was the importance of knowing which manufacturer makes your generic, advocating with your pharmacy or doctor, and not assuming all generic versions work the same as the brand-name drug.

Levetiracetam is the generic name for Keppra, Keppra XR and Spiritam. Lamotrigine is the generic name for Lamictal and Lamictal XR. Hope that helps!

The doctor did but seizures jumped from 40 ish to 300+ in two weeks I was changed back ASAP. I hate the fact that I am on 8 meds. Some for seizures and some for the side effects of the meds. Most of those treated are also seizure medications so have helping the seizures too.
