Members connected with the original question about depression and crying spells after a Lamictal increase, with many sharing that they had experienced the same emotional struggles on Keppra and Lamictal together. Several members offered practical advice, including keeping a mood diary to track how you feel before and after medications, speaking with a doctor about adjusting or slowly tapering off a medication, and exploring antidepressants like sertraline if needed. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of living with epilepsy, and the importance of not stopping medications suddenly but advocating with your doctor to find the right balance.

I take anti-depressants and so I'm in a similar boat, mine work for me because sertraline is a really good anti-depressant in itself, you just gotta find the dose that works for you sweetheart

Do you think is bcz we’ve been in antidepressants for a long time ? I got off wellbuputren about 5 yrs ago and I went through many medications and it wasn’t in till I got into Wellbutrin and by the second yr I got off and just did therapy so me going back to an antidepressants just sucks

Talk with your dr, it could be one of the 2 causing depression. I've been on Keppra for easily 20yrs and was taken off lamictal because it wasn't stopping my seizures and I've been on an antidepressant for many years. It could be the combo or one or the other causing depression. Best of luck to you 💜🙏
