Members connected deeply over the desire for quiet, restorative days while living with epilepsy, with many sharing how exhausting it can be to field constant check-ins and questions from loved ones. Several members offered practical strategies like muting phones, sending a quick heads-up message to close contacts, and using a simple thumbs-up reply to reassure others without engaging in full conversation. A touching recurring theme was the contrast between wanting solitude and the heartfelt reminder from one member living alone that having people who care, even if overwhelming, is truly something to be grateful for.

Myself I enjoy being alone, I have times where I'll get in contact with an old friend or vice versa. I'm friends with neighbors I'll see from time to time, thankfully my family still living live a distance so I have a lot of a lone time I enjoy doing what I want.

I have those days more often than I want to admit. I don’t want to see, look at, talk or answer questions whether it’s over the phone, text or email or whatever. I just want to do my own thing when I want how I want. So I’ll mute the phone-answer anything important like dr office or something like that, but otherwise I don’t even answer the door. If u want to be left alone- do. Everyone knows not to panic if I don’t answer unless it’s been a couple days and I’ll text or email the ppl who usually text or call and tell them that I probably won’t respond to anything for the day, so don’t worry or bother coming over to check on me. U’d be surprised at how well they take it. Most of them understand that I just want to be left alone and they respect my feelings and leave me alone. I still have a couple friends who will text me too make sure I’m still alive and haven’t had a bad seizure or a stroke, I text back a thumbs up 👍🏽 and they leave me alone again. It’s nice that they just want to make sure I’m ok and I appreciate that greatly. I don’t end up with 50-100 texts a day and I’m not answering calls all day. I get my peace and quiet and they have the peace of mind knowing that I’m ok and just want to be left alone

Rhondaschnee, i’m constantly having to answer text questions on a daily basis on unstoppable questions and I’m trying to figure out how to approach this constantly being told that I need it when I know full well that I don’t the way I see it. It’s more of a they want to, but I don’t need it. I’ll give you a good example that I came over this morning and said she needed to look at me while she just saw me yesterday why does she need to look at me again today? It very much noise me and I’m trying to figure out how to approach this. do the fact I just wanna be left alone
