for. Not only that the spot they are trying to put me in will give me less hrs than what I was getting with the one I was hired for. I refuse to have a company do this to me. If this is the best they can do then they will hear it from me. No if and or buts. Just because my body isn’t letting do what I want or need to this is the thanks I get in return.

A member shared their frustration after discovering their employer changed their job title and reduced their hours without warning, sparking a rich discussion about workplace rights and health limitations. Several members advised against giving ultimatums to management, suggesting instead a calm conversation to seek a compromise, while others encouraged standing firm and knowing their rights under the ADA, especially since epilepsy qualifies as a protected disability. A recurring theme was balancing self-advocacy with practical caution, as many members related through their own job struggles tied to chronic illness and physical limitations.

Rhondaschnee This other position would be fine if I were in my 20’s still but I’m not. And my body isn’t tolerating what it use to. Plus when it comes to heat and humidity that’s never worked well with me do to what I take every plus to much heat can easily set off seizures. If this is the best I can get from them now it’s time to start looking again at other openings with other companies that will work for me.

Giving an employer an ultimatum is never a good thing Quinn. They usually will just show u the door and not think twice about it. I know ur beyond frustrated, but try finding out why they changed ur job title and without consulting u first, and take it from there. John makes a great example of how to go about this.

Rhondaschnee I’m giving the manager two choices. They’re trying to put me on the lot i’m not accepting that and I will tell the store manager quote unquote that I’m not accepting the lot position that they’re going to do better than this or the next time I set foot in his office it will be to give him my notice. I’m not playing around with this.

They can’t just change ur job position without talking to u first. My last employer tried doing it to me and he was shocked when I fought back. I was hired as a bookkeeper/ front office manager and not manual labor in the back. I had helped him out in the back when we were swamped with orders and I knew he wouldn’t be able to fulfill the orders without my help and then he just expected me to do everything. In the end he had to hire a helper and leave me to do the job I was hired for. Good luck 🤞🏽
